Miners beat Chinese journalist to death

A reporter was beaten to death at an illegal coal mine in China, reports the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ). There is still a mystery about the brutal killing of Lan Chengzhang, who was working for the Shanxi bureau of the Beijing-based newspaper Zhongguo Maoyi Bao (China Trade News). But the paper has not reported Lan's death, which emerged in an anonymous posting to an online forum. It appears that he was attacked by miners and a colleague, who was also beaten, saw the incident.
