"Minecraft" and Herschel's latest collaboration, which features the real-life bag in the game, is now seeing massive problems as players report that their items are disappearing from their inventory when they use it.
'Minecraft' x Herschel Collab Is Seeing a Bug Now
A bug report has been submitted through Mojang's official support system, claiming that some of the items stored inside the Herschel bag disappear when players log back into the game.
The Herschel Backpack Trials add-on is free, and once fully upgraded, players get access to 16 pages of space for a total of 384 slots.
It comes with a series of challenges to complete, which gradually unlock more pages along with optional features like automatic sorting, depositing, restocking, smelting, and a built-in lantern.
The add-on also includes a soul-bound feature that keeps the backpack with the player upon death, making it sound like an essential item. The real-world collaboration also includes a physical Herschel backpack of the same design, with the dirt block edition selling out quickly.
Disappearing Items From Inventory on Herschel
According to PCGamesN, the experience for some players has been a lot more frustrating than that rundown suggests. Some players have reported that after logging out and returning to their worlds later, the items they had left in their backpacks were all gone.
One user even tested it a second time, loading the pack with items, exiting the game, and returning, only to find the pack contents had vanished again.
Several other players have reported the same experience in response to that post. One described losing five hours of mining progress to the bug.
Another noted the issue occurred even with the soul bond upgrade enabled, meaning the feature designed to protect inventory on death did not stop items from disappearing on logout. The original poster submitted a bug report through Mojang's official tracker, and the issue remains listed as unresolved.
The number of reports for this is relatively few, while the backpack add-on boasts a 4.5-star rating on the Minecraft Marketplace, suggesting the issue is only affecting a small number of players. That said, a low report count does not necessarily mean a low occurrence rate since many players may not know how to file a bug report.
It is also possible that there are players who may have assumed the items were just gone without investigating further.
Should You Still Get the Herschel Collab Bag?
Despite the bug, the Herschel Backpack Trials add-on is still free to download from the Minecraft Marketplace, and the majority of players appear to be using it without encountering the inventory-clearing issue.
The 4.5-star rating and overall response from the community have been positive, with the add-on drawing significant attention as one of the more generous Marketplace collaborations Mojang has offered in a while.
For players who do decide to download it now, the safest approach in the interim is to empty the backpack before logging off. That way, even if the bug does affect a session, nothing stored in the bag will be lost.
Given that Mojang has been actively promoting the collaboration through its official channels, a fix will arrive soon to address the issue. Until then, keeping valuable items in your regular inventory remains the safer option.
