Mindless yobs have been slammed for setting off a monster firework so loud, sleeping neighbours likened it to a bomb going off.
A raging resident’s CCTV cameras captured the ear-splitting bang and flash of light in a quiet residential street in Pollokshields, Glasgow, shortly before 2.30am today.
Dog owner Rob McDowall posted the footage on Twitter as one of his terrified pets was left cowering from the explosion.
Rob tweeted: “There is absolutely no excuse for this at 02:21 am! Explosion was so loud. Selfish pigs.”
He added: “Far too few are considerate when using them. One of my dogs is terrified non stop during firework season. She's distraught with them.
“It was like a bomb. My Bailey has been distraught all night and she's just settled and then this.”
Rob was instantly backed by fellow animal lovers calling for the sale of fireworks to be banned as his footage sparked a furious backlash online.
Chelle Fox posted: “B******s! been setting them off here for a week! my poor dog is terrified! ban them!”
And David Caulfield “What the hell was that? Why are fireworks that loud being sold to the public?”
Others reported similar problems across the city with louts armed with fireworks terrorising neighbourhoods.
Lisajane tweeted: “Wow. That’s not cool. I hope you are all OK. We have had exactly that on Glasgow Green.
“They’ve been putting them in bins. I literally couldn’t hear out of one ear for an hour. They must be serious fireworks. six older lads. Not our usual feral Calton kids.”
