'Mindless' vandals target grave stones at Southwell Minster cemetery

Police say they are "disappointed" after mindless vandals damaged grave stones at a Nottingham cemetery.

The vandalism has taken place at the cemetery in Bishops Drive, which forms part of Southwell Minster.

The force say grave stones have been vandalised - not for the first time - and they are investigating to try and find the culprits.

A spokesperson for Sherwood Police said: "I am disappointed to report that we have had some mindless vandalism of grave stones again.

"If anyone knows who is responsible for this then please ring 101.

"We will continue to do our patrols there and will prosecute anyone damaging loved ones graves."

There has previously been anti-social behaviour reported at the site - police stated they were carrying out patrols in April this year after being made aware of issues in the area.

There have been problems with litter being left at the cemetery before, with mourners even joining volunteers to help with the clean up effort.
