Mindless vandals smash up Brookside Miniature Railway station

Mindless vandals smashed up Brookside Miniature Railway Station in Poynton.

The gang of teens pulled down signs and ripped off fencing at the popular attraction on Saturday evening.

Ornamental boxes and suitcases were also thrown around during the incident.

It happened between 8pm and 10pm.

The railway station is run by volunteers.

Venue bosses said they have reviewed CCTV, which shows between four to five teens with their faces 'partially covered' having a 'good look round'.

They then went on to damage the site.

Railway manager Andy Prior said: "It's not happened for a while, it's quite upsetting. It's just disappointing for the volunteers.

"It's a couple of days working to put it all back, when we could've done without it really.

The incident was 'upsetting' (Brookside Miniature Railway Station)

"I don't know why they have even done it. They probably had nothing better to do."

He said the community has been really supportive.

The attraction was reopened last year after it was shut by previous managers in September 2018.

But venue bosses faced further set backs when a grand reopening event had to be cancelled last March due to flooding.

Cheshire Police has been contacted for comment.
