Stress is mind-cholesterol – it affects our performance without us being able to see it. Left unchecked, work-related stress can cause debilitating damage. But the power to reduce your stress levels is in your hands, and this transformative course can show you how. Mindfulness coach Maria Larrain presents an easy-to-follow introduction to mindfulness-based stress reduction – the rapidly developing field championed by psychologists and increasingly popular with business, media, government and legal professionals.
This interactive evening course is specially tailored for the urban professional who has to negotiate their commute to work daily (whether on bike or public transport); who spends their working life dealing with office politics; who struggles to deal with real or imaginary deadlines – and who often feels preoccupied with all of the above during the time they should be sleeping or relaxing with family and friends.
Maria will teach you to better understand what stress does and how it works, arming you with the knowledge to manage it more easily. Through a series of practical exercises, you'll learn meditation and breathing techniques to ensure you live in the present, rather than obsess over the past or future. You'll also find out how to put the brakes on your knee-jerk reactions to challenging situations at work, and handle experiences with a composed mind. It's a great value introduction to the field of mindfulness, which will help you to open up an express lane to reducing the harmful consequences of stress.
