Mindarie boat catches fire again — this time in Hillarys

Police in Perth are trying to determine how a $250,000 boat has burst into flames twice in two days — once in a marina and again while it was dry-docked.

The 13-metre Riveria was berthed at the Mindarie Marina when it burst into flames just after 6:00am Tuesday.

The vessel was almost burnt to the water line and damage to two boats moored alongside was estimated at more than $100,000.

Police said the gutted boat was moved to a dry dock facility near the Hillarys Marina yesterday for examination.

The boat burst into flames again this early this morning and took firefighters more than an hour to extinguish.

They managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other boats stored at the facility.

Firefighters believe the boat may still have been smouldering from yesterday's fire.

Investigations into the cause of both fires are continuing.
