‘Mind that gap’ – Tottenham fans send Arsenal message after table-topping win against Watford

Tottenham Hotspur head into the international break as the Premier League’s top team after their 100% start to the new season.

Spurs' summer headlines have been dominated by the uncertainty surrounding Harry Kane’s future, but now that the striker has confirmed that he is staying at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Nuno Espirito Santo's side look all the better for it.

The Lilywhites followed up what’s been a good week in Europe with a third consecutive 1-0 win in the Premier League over newly promoted Watford, a victory that sends them to the top position in the table.

Spurs are the only club with a 100% record still intact this season, something that certainly gives them bragging rights over local rivals, Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s side were humiliated against reigning Champions Manchester City on Saturday as Pep Guardiola's side beat the Gunners 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal’s defeat means they’re at the complete opposite end of the table. They’ve failed to score a goal in their first three fixtures and suffer from a goal difference of -9.

Whilst that is obviously hard to take for the Arsenal supporters, Spurs fans are absolutely delighted by how the table is looking as things stand, and understandably so.

Just take a look at what’s been said on Twitter.

@Tottenham_Zone said: “We’re winning the league.”

@Satvikseghal10 said: “Top of the table. Btw where is Arsenal?”

@THFCKalvin said: “No way we are top without conceding and Arsenal are bottom without scoring.”

Players from both clubs will now head off to compete for their nations next weekend – a break that is probably welcomed at the Emirates – before reconvening in the league on the 11 th September, as Arsenal host Norwich whilst Spurs travel to Crystal Palace.
