An animal-based optical illusion made up of a spectrum of colours challenges viewers to spot a camel amid the chaos.
The visual jigsaw posted to TikTok account stereogramaday by Magic Eye with the caption “What is it?”, was apparently inspired by the 1990s optical illusion books of the same name.
The brain teaser initially appears to depict a kaleidoscope of random pigments, like some abstract subway tile mural.
At first glance, the camel is seemingly nowhere in sight.
However, if the viewer holds the screen close to their face before slowly moving it away, the camel will slowly become visible.
While a majority of the TikTok viewers commenting on the video appeared to have come to the same conclusion, about the illusion revealing a camel, one thought otherwise, instead commenting “Desert ship!”
According to Vision and Eye Health , the illusion is a autostereogram; “two-dimensional (2D) images with repeating patterns that hide an underlying three-dimensional (3D) image”.
“When you look at an autostereogram, your brain initially sees repeating 2D patterns from both eyes,” the site explains.
“This is because your brain automatically focuses on the image itself.”
It adds: “When you are able to focus your eyes behind the 2D pattern, your eyes start to look at the pattern at a slightly different angle.
"At this point, your stereopsis kicks in and your brain is able to construct the 3D image at a depth different to that of the 2D pattern.”
Earlier this year The Mirror reported on an optical illusion which supposedly reveals if you're happy with your life at the moment or if you need to make a few changes.
The Danish optical illusion, shared on TikTok by Bright Side, is leaving people scratching their heads as people see two very different things in it.
If you see an apple, that's apparently good news. However if you see two faces looking at each other you might need to rethink a few things.
The voiceover says: "If it's an apple to you, you take things as they are and you're pretty happy with what you see in life.
"You know you can always rely on your close people and they'll support you no matter what. You're always in a good mood and you pass it onto others.
"If you saw two profiles here first, relationships are your big priority in life. You might be going through a period of uncertainty with someone special to you.
