Mind-blowing EastEnders fan theory unmasks who attacked Ian - and it's none of the suspects

Who attacked Ian Beale? As with any soap whodunnit, there is a pool of likely offenders. But one fan is convinced that they've worked out exactly who it is - and it's none of the suspects.

And let's face it, the BBC soap as form with offering up a plate of suspects, only for viewers to be stunned by it being someone completely out of field (Bobby Beale, anyone?)

After inciting anger from pretty much every corner in Albert Square, Ian was brutally attacked and left for dead on the floor of the Queen Vic.

At the end of the episode, viewers watched as a number of residents looked shifty and appeared to be covering their tracks.

Could Ian Beale have been killed by someone other than the list of suspects? (BBC)

From Tina Carter literally washing blood off her hands to Ben Mitchell leaving the pub and Stuart burning something in a trash can, it was an uneasy night for many in Walford.

After posting the dark scenes, the soap's social media account shared a list of suspects, who also included Suki Panesar, Max Branning, Rainie Highway and Bobby and Peter Beale.

His son Bobby is also one of the suspects (BBC)
One fan reckons Sharon Mitchell could have attacked Ian (BBC/Kieron McCarron/Jack Barnes)

But a fan reckons that it is none of them - and that it's actually Sharon Mitchell and that she's been planning it all along.

They wrote: "Sharon; she knew the truth about dennys death after she got his phone back. Been scheming since then and theyll give us a flashback episode."

Other fans agreed that the theory was plausible, with one commenting underneath: "Omg that would be cool actually."

While another remarked: "You just may be onto something and she wasn't in the montage!"

Meanwhile others reckoned that there would be an upcoming flashback episode revealing what really happened that night.

And then we'll finally discover who really wanted Ian dead...
