Mimi's Bakehouse to open brand new café in the grounds of an Edinburgh castle

A castle in Edinburgh decided to hint who would be taking over its onsite café on social media this week and locals were quick to solve the mystery - just from a photo of some cupcakes!

Family business Mimi's Bakehouse are set to open a fifth venue in the capital, but instead of on a bustling street, the new café will be situated in the grounds of Lauriston Castle.

Lauriston Castle wrote on Facebook : "We can announce that in next couple of weeks or so our new café will be opening. We are not disclosing who/what it is quite yet but watch our page for some clues."

However, despite trying to retain some mystery around their new tenants, the castle couldn't full eagle-eyed locals, with several Edinburgh residents quickly identifying the bakery's iconic cupcakes.

However, Lauriston Castle have since cheekily  written back to excited Facebook users that "we simply can't confirm that!".

Lauriston Castle, near Cramond, has huge grounds to explore and stunning views across the Firth of Forth, making it a popular destination for woodland walks in the city.

The castle grounds are completely free to explore by foot and by bicycle. Keep up with their news here.
