Mimi's Bakehouse in Edinburgh becomes 'Sweets and Treats' for Vanessa Hudgens film

An Edinburgh bakery has been transformed into the shop owned by Vanessa Hudgens' character as filming for her new Netflix feature continues in Edinburgh.

Mimi's Bakehouse, on The Shore in Leith , was redecorated as "Sweets and Treats" as it was used in a location for The Princess Switch: Switched Again.

Traffic was diverted on the street at certain points on Saturday. Film crews placed artificial snow around the shop to give it a more Christmassy feel, with a Santa Claus seen standing outside the bakery.

High School Musical star Hudgens has been spotted around Edinburgh during the production of the sequal, including at Edinburgh Dungeons and the Torchlight Procession.

In the first Princess Switch film, her character Stacy is a talented Chicago baker who trades places with a lookalike princess during a trip to the fictional kingdom of Belgravia.

It seems Edinburgh may be standing in for Belgravia, as an A-board sign outside Sweets and Treats says the shop has a "new location."

Local residents were sent a letter advising them of temporary parking restrictions on Saturday.

It said: "The film is a family friendly Christmas movie starring Vanessa Hudgens and is set in a fictional country in which our lead character/s, a baker and a princess swap places.

"With the support of the council and film office we are filming for a short period around Edinburgh, and on Saturday 4th January we are filming exterior and interior scenes at Mimi's Bakehouse."
