Milos Raonic offers US Open value in tournament Novak Djokovic should dominate

No Rafael Nadal and no Roger Federer.

No Stan Wawrinka and a rusty Andy Murray.

So the 2020 US Open ought to be, well, excuse the pun, wide open.

And it would be, but for the presence of one Novak Djokovic.

The second major of the season starts on Monday and it looks like the super Serb's to lose.

Djokovic is odds on 8/11 with thepools.com to land Grand Slam number 18, and if you think odds on before a racquet has even been swung is miserly, consider this.

Djokovic has won this tournament three times already.

He is undefeated all season - boasting a 23-0 record - having already captured his eighth Australian Open title, an ATP Cup and the Dubai Tennis Championship.

And looking at his draw, there are no obvious obstacles.

He starts against Damir Dzumhur, and the first seed he could face is Jan-Lennard Struff, who he beat in straight sets this week.

So you're looking at EW bets really - and this should be the opportunity for No.2 seed Dominic Thiem, a 17/2 tip with thepools.com .

Except the Austrian came a cropper to Filip Krajinovic in last week's Western & Southern Open crashing 6-2, 6-1 leaving his opponent to comment: "I don't think Thiem was playing today good tennis, but I took the chance and I think I deserved to win."

And he could meet Marin Cilic in the third round.

Stefanos Tsitsipas' best Grand Slam performance was reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open in 2019 and he could easily repeat that in New York.

He is 8/1 , while last season's finalist Daniil Medvedev is a little shorter at 6/1 and has no obvious banana skins in his half of the draw.

Milos Raonic is our top tip, though, at 16/1 .

The Canadian has a habit of starting seasons well, and he has restarted well so far in 2020.

He reached the Western and Southern Open final, took the opening set from Djokovic in the final and broke to lead the third set 2-0 before Djokovic rallied.

He offers great value at 16s.
