Milngavie crash victim named as Ryan Wheeler from Maryhill as police appeal for witnesses

The man who died following a three-car crash in Milngavie has been named by police as Ryan Wheeler.

The 21-year-old from Maryhill tragically died at the scene of the collision on Auchenhowie Road around 9.05pm on Sunday.

A Skoda Superb, an Audi A4, and a Ford Tourneo Classic were involved in the crash that also left a teenage girl fighting for her life in hospital.

Ryan was the rear-seat passenger in the Skoda along with a 16-year-old girl who is in critical condition, a 19-year-old male driver who was seriously injured, and two other men aged 23 and 17 who sustained minor injuries.

The 65-year-old female driver of the Audi and her 82-year-old male passenger were uninjured as was the driver of the Ford Tourneo, aged 38, and his passengers aged, 30, 29, and 31.

Three men, the driver of the Skoda, aged 19, and his two male passengers, aged 23 and 17 years, have been arrested following the crash and enquiries are continuing.

The road was closed overnight while police carried out enquiries into the fatal crash.

Constable Martin Alexander said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Ryan.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash cam footage from Auchenhowie Road from around the time of the crash.

"Information can be passed to police via 101. Please quote reference number 3566 of Sunday, 26 February 2023, when calling.”
