London calling for Frank Fielding as goalkeeper heads to Bristol City's Championship rivals - report

Reports in London say that Millwall are set to sign former Bristol City goalkeeper Frank Fielding.

Fielding, 31, was released in the summer after six years of service for the Robins and had been linked with Plymouth Argyle and other sides.

However, Neil Harris and co look to have won the race, with the South London Press reporting that a deal will be wrapped up in the next 24 hours.

Fielding, a member of the 2014-15 double-winning BristolCity side, was allowed to leave BS3 in the summer with Max O'Leary developing nicely and pushing Niki Maenpaa for a starting spot.

Lee Johnson has also been looking to upgrade his goalkeeper options - and Brentford's Daniel Bentley has been cited as on his way in to Failand in the coming days.

Harris is meanwhile eager to recruit two new goalkeepers, reportedly.

According to recent speculation, a fee and personal terms had been agreed for Ipswich Town’s Bartosz Bialkowski, only for complications on the medical to see the transfer to Millwall fall through.

Fielding, formerly of Derby County and Blackburn Rovers, played 181 times under Steve Cotterill and then Lee Johnson and saw a succession of challengers off in the nets.

He also spent time on loan at Wycombe, Northampton and Rochdale before heading to the West Country in 2013.

Fielding has 12 England U21 caps.
