Millwall to pump 'no one likes us' chant into matches at The Den when season restarts

Millwall plan to recreate The Den’s cauldron atmosphere when the season restarts by using fake crowd noise, including the infamous ‘No one likes us’ chant.

The Lions trialled pumping in a mixture of ambient noise and Den terrace classics at an in-house friendly this week, with manager Gary Rowett keen on the idea because he wants conditions to be as normal as possible for his players.

Play-off-chasing Millwall restart the Championship season at home to Derby next Saturday and they are planning to use the crowd noise, subject to final sign-off from the EFL.

Leeds, Charlton, QPR and Bristol City are among the other Championship clubs exploring a similar system.

QPR are working with the London-based company Autograph, who usually specialise in theatrical or musical events but have now expanded into football.

The fake crowd noise would be taken from previous matches at The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium and is receptive to action on the pitch – such as fouls and goals – and changes accordingly.

The crowd noise is also specifically tailored to mimic the usual atmosphere, meaning certain parts of the ground would be louder than others, just like on a normal match day.

QPR are currently trialling the system and have been impressed, but plan to hold more tests next week before making a final decision.

Standard Sport understands another Championship club has also enquired about Autograph's system.

Clubs around the country have been working on ideas to improve the behind-closed-doors atmosphere, with some sides considering using Zoom to virtually bring supporters into stadia.

Others have offered fans the chance to have cardboard cut-outs of themselves in the stands or to decorate the empty seats in banners and messages of support.
