Millwall to furlough entire squad as they become first Championship team to put all players on scheme

Millwall are set to become the first Championship club to furlough their entire squad.

The Lions are finalising plans to place all contracted players on the scheme, which sees workers receive 80 percent of their pay up to £2,500 per month from the government.

Millwall will top up the remainder of their players' salaries to ensure they continue to receive 100 percent of their wages during the shutdown. The club has already furloughed the majority of non-playing staff, who are also continuing to receive their full salary.

Three League One clubs, including Sunderland, have already furloughed their squads.
