Benefits are usually paid straight into your bank, building society or credit union account - with pension credits, child benefit and more paid every four weeks.
The state pension falls into this category - with millions of people in the UK receiving their payments at the end of every month.
However payment dates will vary over the Bank Holiday - which could mean your money arrives a little sooner.
The Government is reminding people that anyone due to receive their funds on Monday 26 August will see it arrive on August 23 instead, to coincide with the day of rest.
This also includes changes to pension credits, child benefit and the carer's allowance.
The state pension is a regular payment from the government that most people can claim when they reach state pension age - currently 65.
For the 2019 to 2020 tax year, the full payment is £168.60 a week (or £8,767.20 a year) - although you may get more or less than this depending on your National Insurance Credits.
Those who reached the state pension age before 6 April 2016, will find their full amount for the current tax-year is £129.20 a week (or £6,718.40 a year).
But that's only if you have 35 years' worth of National Insurance contributions - a number that rose from 30 in April 2016.
To get any state pension at all, you need at least 10 years of National Insurance contributions - if you don't qualify, you can get pension credits instead.
