The Criminal Court has awarded a total of 26 million baht in compensation to families of 25 people killed in an accident involving a van and a pickup truck in Chon Buri in January last year.
The families filed legal action against the company which owned the van. However, the court determined the company was not liable for damages because the driver had not yet gained the full status as company employee.
However, the court ordered the state-owned Transport Company, which granted a concession to the company to run the passenger van service, to pay compensation worth 26 million baht to the families of the accident victims instead.
The van driver was among those killed in the traffic accident.
