Millionaire mum upset as daughter begs her to 'stop overworking' and do school run

Kelly Filistad has worked hard to provide a luxurious life for her daughters - but there is something they need that money can't buy.

The millionaire mum lives with husband Rob and their two kids in a glamorous five-bedroom mansion in the Buckinghamshire countryside.

Kelly is the CEO of a very successful digital marketing agency which creates everything from websites to virtual reality experience, while Creative Director Rob manages a team of designers.

The company has an annual turnover of £4million and the couple splash out a staggering £1,600 a week, including on a nanny housekeeper to tidy all those rooms and look after their daughters.

Sienna, eight, and Bella, four, have their own massive bedrooms with ensuite toilets, a cinema room and an enormous garden to play in.

However, after swapping homes and budgets with a family struggling to get by on Rich House, Poor House, the girls leave their parents stunned with a heartbreaking confession.

The Filistads family trade places with skint couple Natalie and Nikki Ryan, who have to live on just £100 per week with their three kids and have a baby on the way.

They have to give up their glorious home and flash cars for the week to experience how family on the breadline lives in a rented two-bedroom flat.

During the Channel 5 show, Kelly gets an alarming wake-up call when her daughter delivers some shocking home truths.

With the couple focusing all their energy on making their business a success, they realise they are not spending enough quality time with their children.

"I think as a mum the one thing I'd really like to change is when I'm with the children I'm actually there with them and in the moment," admits Kelly.

Their nanny housekeeper sits down to do homework with the kids and Kelly only does the school run once every three weeks.

Opening up, schoolgirl Sienna opens up to her parents by claiming they rarely spend any time together - and when they do they are constantly on their phones.

Revealing her dream scenario, the eight-year-old says: "Maybe some days surprise me and pick me up."

Speaking to cameras, she adds: "It's been nice to spend more time with my mum and dad because they're normally working constantly."

It's a tough one to take for upset dad Rob, who admits: "It's always surprising when they're quite forward like that, you only live once and the business is really important but so is family time as well."

It's not just Sienna who recognises the problem, as Natalie visits Kelly's offices while living her life and also voices that she is spending too much time at work.

"I worry about Kelly a bit because she's doing an awful lot for one person, burnouts is a thing a lot of business people have when they overdo it," says Natalie.

The message definitely gets through to Kelly, who realises she's working hard to provide for her kids but not giving them the attention they need.

"It has made me realise the time I spent with the girls needs to be quality time to focus on them and not being distracted with work," she confesses.

"I might do the school run more than once every three weeks."

On the other side of the swap is pregnant mum-of-three Natalie and husband Nikki, who can't afford childcare for 13-year-old Luca, Natalie's son from a previous relationship, Kyan Brody, seven, and daughter Veronica Rose, 19 months.

Nikki is forced to spend long hours working as a joiner as he only gets paid when a job is finished, while Natalie struggles to find time for her wedding planning business.

There is just £100 a week left over for the family-of-five to live on and their spiralling debt has reached a worrying £30,000.

Natalie says: "We just started buying things that we didn't have the money for and we needed."

The pair are blown away when they swap lives with the Filistads and get to experience their extravagant lifestyle.

"I had a few tears earlier because it just dawns on me it is such a wonderful house and it's not necessary the life, it's a wonderful lifestyle that Kelly and Rob have created for their kids," admits Natalie.

"It's a mixture of emotions, a mixture of ‘I want to work harder, I want this for my kids’ and the other is part of me is asking ‘can I do it, it is something in can aspire to or is it something I could never reach in my life?’"

At the end of the week, there is an incredible surprise when the couples finally get to meet each other after spending a week in each other's shoes.

Kelly and Rob are impressed with Nikki and Natalie's "positive energy" and hope they can inspire them to channel it into something that will improve their lives.

Rob tells Natalie: "I think it's very exciting now that you have your wedding business. You know that by having the business there's unlimited earning potential."

Kelly adds: We looked at your branding and your website and the fact you've done that and you're where you are and you also have three children, you're incredible.

"There's obviously almost two years worth of bride and grooms who haven't been able to get married, there's a very good opportunity.

"I'd love to offer you something. I'm gonna work very closely with you, and I'm going to do everything in my power to help you make your business your success."

In addition to helping with the business, Kelly offered to help it grow by advertising for her and orders them a memory foam mattress so they can have better sleep.

"I don't think there's words for it," gushes a stunned Natalie, who is incredibly grateful for the support.

While Kelly admits she has realised she needs to spend more quality time with her daughters and do the school run more often.

She concludes: "I guess this experience has given me even more drive and determination, if it's possible."

Rich House, Poor House airs on Sundays on Channel 5 at 9pm
