Millionaire Kate Stewart goes undercover as teaching assistant in Channel 4 show The Secret Teacher

Merseyside self-made millionaire Kate Stewart is the next celebrity to appear on the new undercover Channel 4 show The Secret Teacher.

Businesswoman Ms Stewart, who earned her first million at the age of 23 having been expelled from school as a single mum with no qualifications, is the latest to feature on the feel-good show, a four-part series.

The episode will air on Thursday at 9pm, with the series documenting four successful business people who all struggled at school going undercover in the classroom, the Liverpool Echo reports.

In the new TV series , Kate, who is from Liverpool, gets a reality check as she goes back to the classroom as an undercover support worker in schools across the UK.

Last week, it was the turn of rags to riches boss and ex-Royal Navy serviceman Paul Rowlett to appear on The Secret Teacher.

Faced with the realities of the cash-strapped education system, a group of secret millionaires are seeking out students who have the potential to follow in their footsteps.

But before Kate, who owns a string of beauty and tanning salons, can offer life-changing opportunities to both the students and the schools, she must get to grips with rowdy classrooms and emotional teenagers.

In the program, Kate leaves behind her property empire, which includes the Sandon Pub and Hotel and supported living accommodation Vitality Homes, to go undercover as a support worker in a school in a deprived area of Sheffield.

She is shown the ropes by Jackie, one of the longest-serving members of the support team who has seen her role grow to cover two year groups as the school has been hit by budget cuts.

When a fight breaks out, Kate is forced to confront the realities of working in the school.

As headteacher Mrs Simcock says: “If you can work at Parkwood, you can work anywhere”.

In lessons, Kate’s attention is caught by 15-year-old Zain, whose disregard for school rules has led him close to expulsion.

Molly, a persistent truant, also catches Kate’s eye, as she tries to encourage her to engage in school.

The Secret Teacher will air on Channel 4 at 9pm on August 15.
