Millionaire fans horrified as contestant loses £63,000 after ask the audience advice

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire fans were left horrified following Saturday night's instalment of the show after an eager contestant lost out on a whopping cash prize after asking the audience for advice.

The contestant lost out on £63,000 after putting his trust in the audience, who he said looked as though they had a lot of 'clever faces'.

Chris, who viewers immediately became intrigued by, couldn't quite wrap his head around one historical question, so he roped in the audience for help - but he then ended up losing all his money after they guessed incorrectly.

The contestant was stuck on the question which read: "In 1854, which meteorologist founded what became the Met Office, having previously been captain of Darwin's HMS Beagle voyage?"

"Was it Robert FitzRoy, Francis Beaufort, Joseph Henry, or Gustave Gaspard Coriollis?"

After seeking advice from the studio audience, Chris put his trust in the seemingly knowledgeable crowd, and went with Francis Beaufort as his answer.

Unfortunately for Chris, the right answer was actually Robert FitzRoy.

Host Jeremy Clarkson looked deflated as he delivered the bad new to Chris.

The studio then went silent before a heartbroken Chris said: "That is gutting" (ITV)

"Chris, you've just lost £63,000," he brutally told the contestant.

It didn't take long for viewers at home to throw their support behind Chris after the audience 'did him dirty'.

"You could drop a pin in that audience. Silence because they did him so dirty," one complained.

"Man looked genuinely gutted!! I would never get over that or forgive those people," another insisted.

"I can feel his pain from all the way here. Gutting," someone else tweeted.

While a fourth quipped: "Audience needs to pay for their stupidity."
