Millie Turner called up to England squad for Nations League games against Netherlands and Scotland

Manchester United defender Millie Turner has been called up to the England squad who play the Netherlands and Scotland in the UEFA Women’s Nations League next month.

The 23-year-old replaces Millie Bright, who will remain at Chelsea for assessment over a knee injury. The defender missed her side’s 4-1 win over Paris FC in the Champions League on Thursday.

Turner, who has been capped by the Lionesses at various youth levels, will report for duty with the rest of the squad at St George’s Park on Monday.

Sarina Wiegman also has Arsenal forward Beth Mead available.

Mead has not played for England in over a year following a serious knee injury to have ruled her out of the World Cup.

England sit third in Group A1, a point behind Belgium and three ahead of the Dutch ahead of their meeting at Wembley.

There was no place in the squad for goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck, who has lost her place at Manchester City to Khiara Keating.
