Millie Bobby Brown has shared some life-changing news with her fans. The Stranger Things star, 21, and her husband Jake Bongiovi, 23, revealed in an Instagram post that they have adopted a baby girl.
“This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” Brown wrote. She ended the post with the sweet line, “And then there were 3.”
The couple, who married in May 2024 in a private ceremony before celebrating with a larger reception in Italy later that year, have been open about their hopes for a family. Brown has spoken in the past about her dream of becoming a mother while still young, much like her own parents.
On a March 2025 episode of the SmartLess podcast, she told hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes: “I’m still really young, but my mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19, and you know, it’s been my thing since before I met Jake. I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me and … my grandmother is — she was a huge part of my life.”
During the same chat, she also touched on adoption, making it clear it was something she had always been open to. “I don’t see having your own child, you know, as really any different as in adopting,” she said. “For me, like, my home is full of love for anyone and anything, and so that is what we stand by, Jake and I — our energy in the house is like, ‘The door is always open.’”
The news has been met with excitement from fans who have followed Brown’s career from her breakout as Eleven on Stranger Things to her more recent projects. She is gearing up for the final season of the Netflix hit, which will land on November 26, but clearly, family life is now her biggest priority.
While details about the adoption are being kept private, what’s clear is that Brown and Bongiovi are thrilled. At 21 and 23, they are younger than the average couple who adopt. According to the National Council for Adoption, most parents who adopt infants are around 35, with nearly all married and often well-established in their careers and finances.
For Brown, though, age doesn’t seem to matter. She’s been candid about wanting to create a home filled with love and stability, and with Jake by her side, she says she is ready for this new role.
