Millet sold below MSP, long wait for fertilisers: Haryana leader of opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda

ROHTAK: Haryana leader of opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda alleged on Saturday that the BJP-JJP government had only scams, besides farmers’ harassment for fertiliser and MSP, to show for its two-year performance.

Addressing a press conference at his house in Rohtak, Hooda claimed that paddy procurement was not systematic, so farmers were forced to accept low price for the stock, while millet had also sold below MSP (minimum support price). He said: "They received Rs 800 to 1,000 for each quintal of millet, while the MSP is Rs 2,250. Even after adding Rs 600 differential received under Bhavantar Yojana, they made a loss of Rs 600 on each quintal."

He claimed the state was short of DAP (diammonium phosphate) fertiliser, the queues for it were hours long, and not getting fertilizers and seeds on time was delaying procurement, lifting, as well as payment and compensation." The LoP the state was also short of electricity and water, which bad roads, in Rohtak especially, were causing accidents.

He said the ‘Vipaksh Aapke Samaksh’ (opposition at your door) campaign of the Congress Legislature Party will expose the government’s "policy failures", and first of these events had received a good response in Karnal. The next stop is Jind, after the Ellenabad byelection.
