Two militants killed in Pulwama’s Tral

Two militants were killed in a pre-dawn operation by security forces in south Kashmir’s Tral, the police said on Tuesday.

“During a search operation, the hiding terrorists fired on the joint search party. The fire was retaliated, leading to the killing of the terrorists”, said a police spokesman.

The police said during the intervening night of June 1-2, a specific input was generated by the Awantipora police. It was followed by a joint cordon and search operation by the police, the Army's 42 Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF’s 180 Battalion at Saimoh Tral area of Police District Awantipora, the spokesman said.

“The bodies have been retrieved from the site of encounter. The identification and affiliations of the killed terrorists are being ascertained”, the police said.

One AK rifle, a pistol and hand-grenades were recovered from the encounter site. “All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes”, the police added.

Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said, “Due to the efforts of the police and security forces, it was a clean operation and no collateral damage took place during the encounter”.
