Miley Cyrus releases emotional breakup song days after split from Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus has penned an emotional track about drug and alcohol abuse days after she split from Liam Hemsworth after less than a year of marriage.

She shared the track, titled Slide Away, with an image of booze bottles and pills floating in a pool.

Miley sings: "I want my house in the hills / don't want the whiskey and pills".

She goes on: "Woke up one day it had turned to dust / baby we were found but now we're lost / so it's time to let it go".

Miley recently flew to Italy to holiday with Kaitlynn Carter, Brody Jenner's ex, who she was spotted kissing. Liam has retreated to his brother Chris' mansion in Byron Bay, Australia.

TMZ reported that Miley fought "valiantly" to save her marriage to Liam, but she struggled with his drinking and "use of certain drugs".

Another source, close to Liam, said this was "bull****", and their marriage was broken by Miley's infidelity.

Liam spoke out on Instagram after Miley was seen kissing Kaitlynn, and said he wishes her "health and happiness".

He went on: "This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets.

"Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and love."

Both Liam and Miley have seen an outpouring of support from respective fans.
