Miley Cyrus confirms Black Mirror season 5 role on Howard Stern

Black Mirror season five may have just had its first cast member confirmed.

The dystopian anthology series, which – according to a leak – is on the cusp of returning in some capacity later this month, will feature Miley Cyrus.

Cyrus appeared on Howard Stern’s radio show where she revealed she wasn’t at home when she lost her home to the Malibu fire as she was filming in South Africa.

It was here where Stern prompted the Hannah Montana star to confirm recent reports she’ll appear in the Netflix series from Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones.

“If you guess it, then I will shake my head ‘yes,’” Cyrus told Stern, who later claimed he had named Black Mirror.

She added that she was unsure whether she was able to confirm her appearance in the fifth season, but stated she was “really proud” of her work on the Netflix series.

“There’s a lot of dimension to it, and actually it was while the devastation of Malibu was happening, and it was a really weird learning experience for me because I was so far from home and the show is already really dark, and it’s already kind of eerie when you’re there the whole time,” Cyrus said.

“But I learned a lot about myself, and I think I was able to use that and put that into it,” she continued, revealing there were “a lot of different sides” to her character.

Knowing Black Mirror, she could mean this literally.

Last week, an official Twitter account linked to the streaming service seems to have tipped off fans when to expect the series’s return.

The tweet, which has now been deleted, was of a photo showing release dates of several high-profile releases on Netflix. Black Mirror featured alongside the date of 28 December with an isolated episode titled of “Bandersnatch” which seems to hint that fans will be getting a treat before the end of the year.

The new season will reportedly feature a “choose-your-own-adventure” episode whereby fans can interactively dictate its events.

Last year’s season featured episodes “USS Callister” and “Black Museum,” the former of which added to the show’s Emmy trophy count.
