Miley Cyrus is finally set to move back into her Malibu home, nearly seven years after it was destroyed in the 2018 Woolsey Fire.
In a recent chat with Pamela Anderson for CR Fashion Book, the 32-year-old singer shared that the house she once shared with her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, is nearly ready to be lived in again.
“I’ve been working on a rebuild,” Cyrus explained in the interview, which was released on September 22. “I lost my house in the Woolsey Fire and have been rebuilding now for the last five years. It looks like it’s going to be all ready for me in the next couple of weeks”, reported PEOPLE.
At the time of the fire, Cyrus was in South Africa filming Black Mirror. The flames tore through her Malibu property just a month before she and Hemsworth were due to get married. Their marriage ended in August 2019, but the loss of the house stayed with her.

Cyrus opened up about the memories tied to the property in an August 2023 TikTok, saying, “That house had so much magic to it.” She explained that she recorded her first post–Hannah Montana album there and that it was “really where I started writing my own songs as a solo artist.”
It was surreal for her to think that the Malibu house, where she made music, would eventually become her home before it burned down.
Despite the devastation, Cyrus has often spoken about how the experience led her to a sense of renewal. In fact, during a screening of her visual album Something Beautiful earlier this year, she described the fire as “the biggest blessing I’ve ever had in my life.”
“Losing everything and being able to rebuild, and to be able to be purposeful and choose every piece that I’m gonna collect, or also just about the people in my life,” she said, reflecting on the sense of clarity it gave her.
The fire also had a profound effect on her relationships. “When my house burned down, a lot of my relationships also burned down,” she added. “And that again just led me to such magic and to have so much gratitude.”
Cyrus also believes the fire changed her artistry. In a 2020 interview with Joe Rogan, she revealed that her voice shifted after the fire.
“I could sing better after the fire,” she said. “It was almost like it unleashed something,” noting how the traumatic event helped her see life and music in a new way.
Now, with her home almost rebuilt, Cyrus is preparing for a fresh start, one that’s shaped by resilience, loss, and the freedom to rebuild.
