Milestones in play for Cardinals in Week 1 game vs. Lions

The Arizona Cardinals hope to get off to a good start to the 2019 season with a season-opening win over the Detroit Lions. A win would be an important milestone for the team.

Many milestones are in play for the team and for individuals.

By appearing in the game, he will set the record for most games played for the Cardinals. Kicker Jim Bakken previously held the record of 234, which Fitzgerald tied in the season finale last year. No one will have played more for the Cardinals than Fitz.

A catch will extend his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 228.

With a touchdown reception, he would move into sixth place alone on the NFL all-time list for career touchdown receptions.

If the Cardinals can get a win, it will be their 10th season-opening win at home. They are 9-4 at home in season openers since the stadium opened in 2006.

Kingsbury can become the first full-time head coach to win his coaching debut since Don Coryell did in 1973. Steve Wilks lost the season opener last year. Bruce Arians lost the season opener to the Rams in 2013. It has been a long time since a new coach has started 1-0.

Kyler Murray

If Murray can lead the Cardinals to a win, he would be the first No. 1 pick to win a season opener since David Carr did in 2002. The last five No. 1 pick QBs who started in Week 1 have lost the game.

If he throws for 300 or more passing yards, he would be the first rookie QB to do so in his first career game. He would be only the fifth rookie quarterback to do it at all in his rookie season in team history.

With one sack, Suggs will tie John Abraham for 12th place on the NFL all-time list for career sacks. It would give him 133.5 in his career.
