Miles Teller accuses Esquire of misrepresenting him with profile branding him a ‘d*ck’

Miles Teller has accused Esquire of misrepresenting his character after the magazine ran an unflattering profile of the actor, calling him a “kind of a d*ck* and making references to his “d*ckishness” throughout.

Journalist Anna Peele has been criticised for a number of comments which some consider as presenting Teller as arrogant and unaware in her cover story. In a departure from the endless fawning profiles of actors, Peele's essay often focused on the moments during their meeting she said left her “trying to figure out if he's a d*ck”.

In one instance, she recalled the Whiplash actor asking an assistant to cut his meat for him after getting out a photo of his back muscles “to prove how strong he is”

In another, she referenced a comment he made about his appearance: ”I was thinking about that today, how I probably think I'm better-looking than the public thinks I am,“ he says with a laugh, like it's funny that he's willed himself into a higher tier of male beauty through limitless confidence.”

After discussing his work, Peele adds: “So yeah, he is kind of a dick. But the thing is, you agree with him: His admittedly limited body of work so far, his oeuvre — a word you define and spell for him, so who's the dick now?—is pretty great.”

Her essay concluded with a reference to Teller charming everyone with his “dickishness”, prompting the 28-year-old to respond on Twitter by claiming Esquire “couldn’t be more wrong”.

His friends and Fantastic Four co-stars also jumped to his defence.

Representatives for Teller and Esquire did not respond to The Independent’s request for comment.
