Miles Sanders on Eagles RB situation: ‘Nobody’s really going to be the star’

The Philadelphia Eagles have approached the running back position by a committee for years now, and that’s the expectation that Miles Sanders will have going forward in terms of sharing the wealth. Despite Jordan Howard being among the league leaders in yards from scrimmage over the past three seasons, Sanders, who missed most of the OTAs with a hamstring injury, is under the impression that there won’t be a bell-cow running back, instead, he believes they’ll be touches galore for everyone.

While a guest on NFL Total Access on Tuesday, Sanders talked about his excitement for his rookie season and how the Birds won’t have a quote on quote, “star” at running back.

“It’s definitely going to be competitive. That’s what I like about rooms likes this. It was like this at Penn State. It was a very talented running back room. But I’m just used to that stuff: competing and making each other better. Nobody’s really going to be the star running back, I think,” said Sanders on Total Access on Tuesday. “I think the ball’s going to be spread out a lot, and that’s what I kind of like, too.

“Everybody’s getting a touch in the game and then just affecting the game in any type of way. So, I’m willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win.”

It’ll imperative for the Eagles to establish a dominant and efficient running game this season, as the team attempts to keep Carson Wentz upright and from taking so many shots. The Eagles backfield will consist of Howard, Sanders, Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood, and Josh Adams.
