Former Arsenal manager Unai Emery led his Villarreal side to the UEFA Champions League round of 16 on Thursday night.
Emery spent 18 months in north London, losing the Europa League final to Chelsea 4-1 and struggling domestically before he was eventually replaced by Mikel Arteta in the managerial dugout.
The former Paris Saint-Germain boss then joined Villarreal last year before knocking out his old side in the semi-finals of last season's Europa League before defeating Manchester United in the final.
Now, the Spaniard has led the La Liga outfit to the last 16 of the Champions League after defeating Atalanta in the final group stage match on Thursday evening.
After the game, a number of Arsenal fans took to social media to use Emery's success against Arteta, criticising the former Manchester City assistant coach for the lack of progress the north Londoners have made under his stewardship.
