Mild and sunny spells this weekend but turning chilly on Sunday

Last weekend we got the first real taste of spring as temperatures reached double figures.

Scores of people flocked to the North East's coasts and the Newcastle Quayside to take advantage of the warm weather.

However this weekend, it doesn't look like we'll be as lucky.

We'll see sunny spells in the region on Saturday with mild temperatures of around 7°C.

But on Sunday, it is set to turn chillier and cloudy.

From Monday, we're also set to see some drizzle in many parts of the North East.

Here is the full forecast from the Met Office:

Friday

"After a cold and frosty start, it will be a largely dry day with sunny spells and just the odd light shower. Feeling chilly, but this will be offset somewhat by the sunshine and light winds. Maximum temperature 6°C."

Friday evening

"Any showers soon dying out this evening to leave a dry night with prolonged clear spells and light winds. This will make for a cold night with a widespread frost. Minimum temperature -3°C."

Saturday

"A cold but largely sunny morning. Patchy cloud increasing in the afternoon, but remaining dry. Light winds. Maximum temperature 7°C."

Sunday

"Chilly Sunday and becoming rather cloudy." Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 8°C. It will be milder on Monday but cloudy, with some light rain and drizzle.
