Milan Skriniar agent reveals rejected Man City transfer offer

The agent of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has revealed that Manchester City had an offer rejected for the defender last summer.

City have been heavily linked with a move for the central defender in the previous couple of transfer windows and it has now been suggested that a proposal was tabled last year.

Pep Guardiola has been keen on looking at new defensive options for City as they prepare for their long-term future without the help of club captain Vincent Kompany and fellow centre-back duo Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala.

Skriniar is one such name who has been touted for a move to the Premier League, and now his agent Mital Halis has claimed that the 24-year-old was subject of interest from City last year.

According to the agent City were prepared to pay Inter almost double of what they had paid for the Slovakian international, but would now have to pay a club record fee if they were to land him.

“Inter Milan paid Sampdoria €28m (£24m) for Skriniar and six months later, Manchester City came in with an offer of €55m (£46m),” he told AS .

“Now he is valued at around €100m (£87m).

“Any deal would certainly be complicated by the interference of intermediaries.”
