What better way to start a Sunday than sipping coffee in a sun-soaked vegetable patch, as was the scene pre-show outside Bottega Veneta HQ. The relaxed weekend vibe continued throughout the collection itself, which was part Fame rehearsal room (headbands and drop-crotch long johns), part athletes on downtime (baggy shorts with knitwear) – think unbuttoned, rumpled, slouchy and purposefully untucked in a way that said artfully dishevelled and not scruffy. It was louche luxe and we loved it Photograph: PR
When Tom Ford, king of all that's slick and smart, wants to talk to you about denim and Gucci sends paint-splattered jeans down the catwalk, you get the message that it's a key fabric for next summer. Add to that Prada's knockout top-stitch denim classics collection (encompassing the full denim gamut: jackets, blazers, coats and jeans, seen above) and you have a dead-cert trend Photograph: monica_feudi/FeudiGuaineri/PR
Thick vertical Bengal and awning stripes or thin horizontal pin ones, stripes are in for summer 2015. The chicest combos came in navy and white with a nod to nautical at Gucci (above left) and monochrome at Emporio Armani (above right). Special mention to a navy jumper with white barber-pole diagonal stripes snaking up from the cuffs at Ermenegildo Zegna. It doesn't take a genius to realise that this trend looks better on the top half of the body or you risk a Beetlejuice moment Photograph: Vittorio Zunino Celotto/Getty
Big in London, smashing it in Milan. Red is the accent colour for next summer. Dolce and Gabbana's matador-inspired collection put its full weight behind fiery flamenco red, showing it in suiting, oversized hoodies and shirting. They closed their show with a tailoring finale in a paint chart of red hues. The message was loud and clear: if you buy one thing next summer, make sure it's red Photograph: Vittorio Zunino Celotto/Getty
Menswear's getting sexy next summer. More than one collection flashed a toned torso, and even the usually more demure labels paraded bare chests on the catwalks – witness Missoni's surfers (above) in shorts and knitted gilets with a side of beach body. Accessory of the week had to be Versace's tongue-in-chic picnic hamper backpack with string pockets stuffed with gilt Medusa-head crockery from the homewares collection. The models made carrying a plate as elegantly resolute as Myron's discus-throwing statue (a motif that featured on a leather jacket) and less like Alan Partridge cheating the Travelodge buffet Photograph: Getty
We all remember Marky Mark flashing his Calvins in the 90s but for 2015 it's a more modest underwear-as-outerwear approach at Calvin Klein Collection (above), with vests being styled over T-shirts or double layered. At Ermenegildo Zegna models wore what looked like a pulled-down jersey vest, with the armholes creating a braces-hanging-down effect, and the string vest made a comeback at Versace Photograph: Pier Marco Tacca/Getty Images Europe
Marc Jacobs went for a full-on flamingo print (above) that was an instant social-media hit and a liberal dose of peachy pink throughout the collection. Versace opened with a rose-pink unstructured suit, peachy buff tones dominated at Calvin Klein Collection, while flamingo was also namechecked in the colour palette at Bottega Veneta. When it comes to a concise collection that is an exercise in getting the right building blocks for the perfect capsule wardrobe, you'd be hard pushed to trump Marni. Cornerstone basics like Harrington and bomber jackets sit alongside statement prints and tunic T-shirts that are just the right side of awkward. We were big fans of the scribbled floral print Photograph: PR
Has the jazzy fashion trainer backlash begun? With renewed interest in brands like Stan Smith the 'unbranded' branded trainer is getting cult love. Tom Ford can't make his plain leather and velvet pumps fast enough – customers are even buying them in the wrong sizes, so desperate are they to own a pair. In other footwear news, thanks to Prada leather granddad sandals are set for a summer at the top of the charts Photograph: PR
