Milan make transfer decision that could have a big impact on Arsenal and Chelsea

Hakan Calhanoglu looks as if he could be on his way out of AC Milan at the end of this month with Arsenal and Chelsea both reportedly interested.

Calhanoglu's contract at the San Siro expires on June 30, with the two parties thought to be some away apart on agreeing an extension to his deal, meaning the Gunners and the Blues could look to make a move for the soon-to-be free agent.

The Turkey playmaker enjoyed a fine 2020/21 season for Milan - which saw him lead the charts for key passes and shot-creating actions - and it is no surprise that, with him about to be available on a free transfer, he is reportedly attracting interest.

Now, Milan look like they are preparing for life post-Calhanoglu, with Calciomercato in Italy reporting that the Serie A club are eyeing a move for Lille attacker Jonathan Ikone this summer.

Ikone was integral in Lille's shock Ligue 1 triumph last season and has two years remaining on his deal with the French champions.

Contact was made around 10 days ago between Milan's entourage and Lille's, the report claims, but the Italian giants could face some stern competition for his signature from the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid - who are both said to be interested in the Frenchman.

football.london understands that Arsenal's main transfer target this summer is Martin Odegaard, as Mikel Arteta looks for a creative midfielder.

Odegaard spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan with the Gunners, but has since returned to Real Madrid.

The north London club also put in a £30million bid for Emiliano Buendia, but he has since agreed a deal to join Aston Villa.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of Thomas Tuchel's first full season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Hakim Ziyech continues to be linked with a departure this summer, despite spending just one season in west London, meaning the Blues could receive a transfer windfall if he was to depart that could help towards Calhanoglu's wage demands - if he is indeed of interest.
