Mikey Hoc jailed: Serial rapist who attacked teen in Lothian Road graveyard sent to prison

A serial rapist who attacked a teenager in an Edinburgh city centre graveyard has been jailed for ten years.

Ex-boxer Mikey Hoc (20) raped three woman in the capital over the course of a two year period. He was convicted on four counts of rape on February 15 following a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.

In November 2016 he raped a 15-year-old girl within the graveyard at St Cuthbert's Church on Lothian Road, before attacking the same girl again the following month.

He raped a further two women in March and May 2018. One of the victims, a blind woman, was attacked in the Craigour Green area of Edinburgh.

He also assaulted another woman after holding a knife to her throat during an attack in March of last year.

Today (Friday) he was sentenced to ten years in prison and a further five years' supervision. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders' Register indefinetely.

Police Scotland's public protection unit carried out inquiries which led to the arrest of Hoc in June 2018.

Detective sergeant Ross Duthie said: “We welcome the sentencing today of Mikey Hoc who preyed on these women, often befriending them before subjecting them to the most horrific crimes.

“He has shown no remorse and would not admit his actions, forcing the women to re-live their ordeals during the trail process.

“The bravery and courage shown by all the women should be commended, and it is to their credit that they came forward to police to report Hoc’s crimes which has allowed his conviction.

“All reports of sexual crime are investigated thoroughly and we are committed to working with the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal service to ensure perpetrators of such crimes are brought to justice.”
