Mikel Oyarzabal responds to Man City transfer speculation

Real Sociedad winger Mikel Oyarzabal insists he is happy to remain with his current club as he continues to be linked with a transfer to Manchester City among other sides.

Oyarzabal, 22, has been touted as a possible transfer target for City as Leroy Sane's future remains unresolved.

Bayern Munich want to sign Sane, who is nearing a return from injury, and reports say if the German is allowed to leave the Etihad then Pep Guardiola wants Oyarzabal as his replacement.

Spanish international Oyarzabal is in fine form this season, but insists there are still areas of his game that can be improved.

And that is his primary focus, he insists, rather than any move away from Sociedad.

“I don’t pay attention at all to those rumours,” he told WhoScored.

“I am focused in my work at la Real. I have never thought about [playing in another league]. I am very young, and I hope to have a long career. I don’t know what the future has prepared for me."

Discussing his strengths and weaknesses, Oyarzabal said he has improved the tactical side of his game at Sociedad, but now needs to improve his physicality.

“The experience of all these years in the first division gave me the capacity to read the game better,” he continued.

“Now I think I am capable of searching and finding more spaces in the opposition’s defence.

“I have to improve my physical condition, try to be faster to take advantage of opponents mistakes.

“I also need to improve my ball control in these situations.”
