Mikel Arteta 'vowed to destroy' Arsenal player behind dressing room leaks

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly told his team he would "destroy" the player who has allegedly been leaking inside information to the media.

The Gunners boss is under huge pressure following his side's latest disappointing defeat, with the 1-0 loss against Burnley on Sunday meaning they have now won just one of their last eight Premier League games.

There are claims that Arteta has lost the support of some inside the dressing room, and unless their form turns around very soon his job could well be at risk.

And according to a report by Football London the Spaniard is determined to find the source behind recent leaks to the press and banish them from the team.

They claim Arteta held an internal meeting with his squad in which he made it very clear the culprit would be dealt with in the strongest possible manner.

It comes after details of a training ground bust-up last month between David Luiz and Dani Ceballos became public knowledge, with the latter rumoured to have been left with a bloody nose as a result.

Arteta made his frustrations about the incident getting out clear shortly afterwards, saying: "I don’t like it at all and I will find out where it is coming from.

"And if that is the case, that goes completely against what I expect from each other, the privacy and the confidentiality that we need, and there will be consequences."

Arsenal are languishing down in 15th place in the table, and face a tricky-looking next couple of games when they host high-flying Southampton on Wednesday followed by a trip to Everton on Saturday.

A poor result in both or either of the two fixtures and questions will surely start to be asked about whether Arteta is the right man to take them forward after all.
