Mikel Arteta unlocked Arsenal's key chance creator who can now match Cesc Fabregas output

Bukayo Saka's assist to Emile Smith Rowe following a gushing counter attack to open the north London derby made the Hale End graduate the youngest player to surpass 20 assists for Arsenal since Cesc Fabregas did so in December 2006.

The Gunners number seven joined the Spanish midfielder in an elite bracket at London Colney as players to have had such a great impact at Arsenal so early into their careers.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping Saka can carry the torch forwards and spearhead the north London side into the next era of success at the Emirates, much like Fabregas did under Arsene Wenger by becoming the club's youngest ever captain.

However, Arsenal fans will be pleading that Saka only follows Fabregas' hallowed footsteps so far, guiding the England international away from a big money move reminiscent of the former Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder's.

Saka's first assist for the Gunners came in the first half of a rampant 3-0 away win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2019/20 Europa League Group Stages before a second followed in the dying embers of the tie.

His first stemmed from a clever nutmeg inside Arsenal's half before driving forward and releasing Joe Willock in behind the Bundesliga side's defence who then cut inside looping the ricochetted ball over the goalkeeper.

Saka's then marked his first feature in centre-midfield at senior level with a tenth assist for the club - the same season he got his first - after a 2-1 loss to Brighton at the Amex.

The 2019/20 campaign was a season to find Saka's best position, featuring as a left or right-winger, a left wing-back, a left-back and centre-midfielder while going on to lift the prestigious FA Cup.

Arsenal's 'starboy' went on the emulate the success reaped from 2019/20 in 2020/21 by returning a prosperous goal return in the Premier League and Europa League, but this time without the FA Cup to hand.

Saka also cemented himself a position on the frontline for club and country despite uncertainty as to whether he'd grow into becoming a winger or wing-back.

Despite a rough start to the season following a quick turnaround from Euro 2020, Saka has seemingly found his flow again and played a significant role in the Gunners' north London derby triumph.
