Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn says that the club are still falling "way short of the mark" with their performances, and that they will need to sort out problems in four areas of the pitch this summer.
The Gunners currently sit 10th in the Premier League this season, knowing that any hopes of them qualifying for a place in European football next season may rest on winning the Europa League.
Mikel Arteta's side face Villarreal in the first leg of their semi-final on Thursday night, while Manchester United and Roma will be bidding for the other slot in the final.
Winterburn says that along with on-field performances, the uncertainty about a number of senior players' futures has been a concern this year.
However, the club has been bought some time by the continued excellence of the young stars emerging from the Hale End Academy.
"Points wise they’re not a million miles off but the performances suggest, to me, that we’re still way short of the mark," Winterburn told Bookmakers.
"We still don’t know who our best centre-half pairing is, the right-back position looks as though it will need to be filled, we don’t know about the futures of [Martin] Odegaard and [Dani] Ceballos.
"And then there’s Lacazette closing in on the end of his contract, Aubameyang has had a poor season.
"Really, when you look at it, the young players have kept everything going this season as far as I’m concerned.
"The young players coming through and performing to a high level have enabled the fans to be slightly more patient than they would be under normal circumstances."
