Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly ready to oversee a clear-out of four players in the summer as he looks to kick-start his Gunners revolution.
Having arrived in December when he replaced Unai Emery in the hotseat, Arteta has so far overseen a slow improvement in Arsenal's fortunes, with the Gunners reaching the quarter-finals of the FA Cup this week.
They still remain out of touch with the Champions League places though, and last week suffered the blow of a surprise exit in the Europa League when they were beaten at home by Olympiakos.
The Mail Online say that Arteta is already looking to the future as he plots what to do in the summer, and has earmarked four players he'd be happy to see leave the club.
They are Mesut Ozil, Matteo Guendouzi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Ozil is the top earner at the club and could be shifted off the wage bill in order to provide money for new signings, while Guendouzi recently had a public falling out with Arteta and his coaches.
Central defender Sokratis could be surplus to requirements with Pablo Mari expected to be signed permanently in the summer and William Saliba returning from loan, while Maitland-Niles has struggled to hold down a place in the team under Arteta.
Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon says Arteta is looking to looking to instil a new culture at the club, and thinks he's got off to a good start.
“It’s about [implementing] a structure, a discipline, those traditions and values that playing for the Arsenal is all about," he told the Handbrake Off podcast .
“I think Arteta gets all of that, I believe in what he is doing since he’s been at the club, we’re seeing some of that come back in the team and in training.
“Over a period of the next 18 months or so I believe those values will be reinforced.
“The difficult bit next is the recruitment, the team is blatantly not good enough in lots of departments."
