Arsenal are expected to make additions to their squad during the January transfer window but departures could also happen.
Mikel Arteta has the chance to make an instant impact on his squad this month, though it's widely expected that the major changes will come during the summer window.
But for now there is one key area of the field where alterations must be made and that has to be in defence.
Arsenal had conceded 30 goals in 20 Premier League this term ahead of facing Manchester United on New Year's Day, and recruitment is needed.
Dayot Upamecano of RB Leipzig is one of the players who has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates but exits are likely too.
And former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson has predicted that the much-maligned Shkodran Mustafi will be one of the players to leave the capital this month.
"I think there will be quite a lot (of players Arteta wants to sell)," he told ESPN.
"We saw the centre-half Mustafi, he’s going to be out of favour and out of the club very, very soon.
"But at the moment he’s got to keep most of the players there because he hasn’t got a great squad."
Robson also explained the areas where Arsenal need to recruit the most this month.
He added: "Defence has got to be the main one (area to recruit), then midfield, then the goalkeeper, then up front."
