Mikel Arteta tipped to make Eddie Nketiah decision as Arsenal continue top four push vs Norwich

Arsenal are back in action today as they make a Boxing Day trip to Carrow Road to face relegation-battling Norwich City.

The Gunners will be desperate to make it four wins on the bounce this afternoon as they hope to extend the gap between them and fifth placed West Ham.

Mikel Arteta's men will also be hoping to continue a recent scoring spree that has seen them find the net nine times in their last two games against Leeds United and Sunderland.

Although the Gunners won't be looking to get complacent, with Norwich sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table, it should be a routine victory for Arsenal.

That is certainly Paul Merson's opinion, anyway.

"Arsenal have been playing very well this month – they’re bright all over the pitch,” Merson told Sportskeeda.

“They’re flat-track bullies at the moment, and I have no problem with that. Arsenal have been better than a lot of the other teams in the Premier League, but they have struggled against the big three. They’re a bag of revels – you don’t know what you’re going to get.

“[Eddie] Nketiah laid down a marker in the Carabao Cup, but I don’t think Arteta’s going to tamper with a winning formula this week. [Alexandre] Lacazette, [Gabriel] Martinelli and [Bukayo] Saka have been impressive for Arsenal and will lead the line against Norwich.

“Arsenal have been winning as a result of their desire, and if they can overcome their inconsistency, a top-four finish is within reach. Norwich have been causing a few problems recently but Arsenal should be able to blow them away with ease.”

Merson's prediction: Norwich 0-3 Arsenal

Merson isn't the only pundit who expects Arsenal to win, either.

Mark Lawrenson also thinks the Gunners will come away with three points, albeit he expects it to be a difficult challenge.

"Arsenal are flying at the moment. The games are coming thick and fast but they will be happy to keep playing while they are still winning," he wrote in his BBC Sport column.

"As I've said before I don't often fancy the Gunners on the road, but they enjoyed themselves at Elland Road against an out-of-sorts Leeds side last weekend and this is another away game where they will be thinking they should win.

"What kind of performance we see from Norwich will depend a lot on which players they have available.

"They pushed Manchester United close at Carrow Road a couple of weeks ago, but I still think a confident, in-form Arsenal will take the points."

Lawrenson's prediction: Norwich 1-2 Arsenal.
