Arsenal are preparing to allow Folarin Balogun leave the club on a short-term loan deal in January, according to reports.
Mikel Arteta was handed a major boost at the end of last season, when the 20-year-old performed a U-turn to sign an extended deal after months of protracted negotiations.
Balogun was subsequently promoted to the first-team, but has continued to find his opportunities limited since the start of the season.
On the opening day of the new campaign, Balogun was a surprise starter, with both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ruled out against Brentford.
But once the senior strikers have returned, he has made just one other Premier League matchday squad, coming off the bench against Chelsea at the end of August.

Since then, he has been back with the Under-23s, where he has continued his prolific scoring record, finding the net six times in four games and earning a nomination for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month.
Many expected Balogun to be handed a more pivotal role during their Carabao Cup campaign, but thus far has played just seven minutes in the two ties.
There were criticisms of Arteta in the third round in particular, when the Spaniard opted to start Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah, both of whom look set to leave the Emirates at the end of the season.
And Football.London report that should he find opportunities remaining difficult to come by, he will be allowed out on a temporary move to get more experience of senior football.
That was the path taken by Emile Smith Rowe, who shone during spells with RB Leipzig and Huddersfield, before his transition to one of Arsenal ’s main men.
Balogun’s older brother Royce threatened to incur the wrath of Arteta when suggesting that the Arsenal boss had a ‘striker problem’ when it came to the system he utilised.
After his brother’s debut against the Bees, Royce told the What The Footie podcast: "When you look at that striker problem, in terms of chances created, it’s not just Folarin, it was there when [Gabriel] Martinelli was playing there, when Aubameyang was playing there - the system doesn’t work.
“You can’t blame one player for that, it’s more the actual systematic thing.Whenever I talk to Folarin I tell him to keep going but the system just doesn’t really work at the moment.
“Soon it will work, there will be a movement and you’ve got to be ready when it does.
“At the same time, there’s nothing really you can do, you just have to support, keep on talking and keep telling him to keep maintaining."
