Arteta's warning
Mikel Arteta has warned his Arsenal side that a repeat of Thursday night's performance will result in missing out on the Europa League final.
Speaking in his press conference about the second leg, when the Gunners will have to come from behind to progress, Arteta said: "Well it changes completely the tie obviously.
"It makes a huge difference and we know that we are there. We have to better than we were today for 95 minutes.
"If we don’t do that we don’t have the chance to be in the final."
Ljunberg's verdict on the penalty
Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg believes Bukayo Saka was 'clever' to win a penalty in the defeat to Villarreal.
Saka won a second half penalty to give the Gunners life in the tie with Nicolas Pepe scoring the spot-kick, but the award of the penalty was questionable in the eyes of Ljungberg.
Ljungberg told BT Sport: "I'm a big fan of Bukayo and I've been in that situation myself a little bit a few times and I think there's a replay on it from behind where, in my opinion at least, it looks like Bukayo lets his right foot dingle out a little bit so he makes sure he hits it on the leg.
"And it's clever and he gets a pen, especially in Europe, here we see even better here he lets it go and he hits the defender. But in Europe you sometimes get them and you need to be clever."
Arteta explains Dani Cebllos red card
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that he planned to substitute Dani Ceballos minutes before his red card against Villarreal.
"We talked at half time that we have to be careful," he revealed. "I was going to take him off and by the time Gabi was ready to come on, that action happened and he was out."
The Gunners boss added: "After the red card we knew we had to fight back because we could be completely out of the tie.
"We took our chances and it came good for us."
