Mikel Arteta sends message to Arsenal fans after taking over as permanent head coach

Mikel Arteta has sent the Arsenal fans a message after taking over as head coach at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners boss will not be in the dugout for the clash against Everton on Saturday afternoon, but will be in the stands for the Premier League match at Goodison Park.

Arteta said at his unveiling that he was proud to take over "one of the biggest clubs in the world", and that being made manager of Arsenal was "a huge honour".

Ahead of the game against Everton, the boss also sent his own message to fans on social media.

Arteta admitted that he had to be "realistic" about the opportunity that he had been given, with Arsenal not in the greatest of circumstances following Unai Emery's dismissal.

However, fans will be buoyed by his optimism ahead of a big task, with a particular focus on the young talent at the club.

“We all know there is a lot of work to be done to achieve that but I am confident we’ll do it. I’m realistic enough to know it won’t happen overnight but the current squad has plenty of talent and there is a great pipeline of young players coming through from the academy.”
