Mikel Arteta says Arsenal have 'two or three' transfer scenarios amid coronavirus crisis

Mikel Arteta has admitted he is having to plan for three different transfer “scenarios” - but warned he could end up doing nothing.

Arteta wants to overhaul his squad this summer but says it is impossible to make any sort of plans because of the uncertainty of the coronavirus.

Gunners boss Arteta does not know whether he will have money to spend and may be left with very little and does not even know when they can think about returning to training.

Arteta said: “I’m planning two or three different scenarios that we can face and depending on one of those three we can may be do more, less or nothing. We don’t know.

“We have to react daily to that, we don’t know the financial situation and what the rules are going to be, the timing, we don’t know the window and there’s so many things we can’t control at the moment.

“We don’t really know if it (the crisis) will be two weeks, three weeks, a week, it all depends. You know how hard it is as this situation drags on.

“There are a lot of decisions to make, some of them are difficult because we’ve never been in this situation before and we have to adapt, get back to doing our jobs in the best possible way.”

In a video chat with Sky, Arteta said he had sent his condolences to former boss Pep Guardiola’s family after his mother died and also admitted that his family had been affected by the virus and was concerned about relatives in Spain.

Arteta, who had the Covid-19 virus last month before making a full recovery, added: “My wife and some of the people who are living with me went through it but are now absolutely fine and the problem is very complicated.

"They have even taken even stronger methods to deal with it, but the situation is looking critical at the moment.”
