Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has called upon the club's players and fans to show unity as the team improve under his watch.
The Spaniard secured his first win since taking charge of the Gunners on New Year's Day as Manchester United were beaten 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side seemed unable to deal with the way their hosts set up to nullify their threat on the counter-attack and build moves through a clear structure with and without the ball.
Goals from Nicolas Pepe Sokratis Papastathopoulos put Arsenal 2-0 ahead before half-time and while their performance in the second half dipped as their legs became tired they refused to yield to United late on.
Chelsea had also been outplayed in Arteta's first game at the Emirates only to come back late on with two goals to snatch a win.
Matteo Guendouzi was sent on to replace Alexandre Lacazette late on against United after the French forward pulled up with cramps and the midfielder helped to prevent the visitors finding a way back into the game.
On his own official Twitter account, Arteta paid tribute to his players and called on everyone associated with Arsenal to come together as the team work hard to improve after their first win of his reign.
"Great start of the year," tweeted the Spaniard. "Let's keep improving together."
He added the hashtag "#alltogether" to sum up the way his team played against United with a coherent plan over how the players would position themselves and move the build up and down the pitch.
Arsenal's next match comes against Leeds United in the third round of the FA Cup before a return to action in the Premier League away at Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace.
In February, the Gunners will face Olympiacos in the Europa League round of 32, and Arteta's first match on the continent as head coach.
They remain nine points off fourth place after their win over United but have all to play for in the FA Cup and Europa League.
Last season, Unai Emery had the chance to bring Champions League football back to the Emirates by beating Chelsea in the final of the Europa League only to lose to Maurizio Sarri's side in Baku.
Arteta may have to look to Europe's second tier club competition to find a way back into the Champions League if top four proves to be beyond his side.
